Radiation from the sun is separated in three wave length bands.

UV- ultra violet rays
VIS- visible rays
IR-   infra red rays

UV rays are the shortest and strongest energy waves. Ultra violet band is divided into radiation of moderate energy as follows.

UV-A (320-380nm)     causes wrinkles
UV-B (280-320nm)     causes skin cancer
UV-C (100-280nm)     hardly entered to the surface of earth due to the ozone layer.

The global warming and pollution has already damaged the protective ozone layers in continent sized thin spots and holes in many places. This can be a severe threat to us in future.
